To celebrate the 20th anniversary of their Gel-Nimbus 20 running shoe, ASICS are giving you a chance to WIN a pair of Gel-Nimbus 20.
2018 is an exciting year for Japanese Sportswear brand ASICS as it is celebrating three big anniversaries… In May it would have been its founder’s, Kihachiro Onitsuka’s 100th birthday, and in June the Kayano 25 is released.
However, the first anniversary actually started at the beginning of the year with one of the brands landmark shoes, the Gel- Nimbus with its 20th edition.
In the late 90’s, shoe manufacturers began creating products to accommodate specific running gaits, and ASICS took this opportunity to create a shoe strategically designed for each type of runner. The Gel-Nimbus is the brand’s first running shoe specifically created for neutral runners who strike the ground with the centre of the heel. Inspired by the freedom and movement of storm clouds, the Cushioning series has kept neutral runners light on their feet for years and miles to come.
As technology has improved, so has the design and fit of the Gel-Nimbus shoe. The demand on runners for better comfort, feel and weight has meant ASICS has invested heavily into its research and development to make sure the Nimbus shoe has been at the forefront of neutral runners minds for marathon training and races.
The Nimbus 20 edition is the lightest model in the history of the shoe, with the exclusive ASICS FlyteFoam technology used as its midsole. Already used in several of ASICS’ other running shoes, the FlyteFoam technology has been brought in to help the neutral runners experience the comfort and durability mixed in with a lighter feel.
The 20th edition Nimbus has been celebrated with three different versions for the marathon training season, and alongside the new Nimbus 20 colourways there are the City Packs – featuring the names of several key global cities like London, Paris and Tokyo – and the Platinum edition which features an electroplated heel counter and lace clip, along with an anniversary sock liner and lace tips.
