In a sector of running largely dominated by TomTom and Garmin, Polar are trying to feel their way into the running watch market.

But unlike the two giants of the game, Polar are targeting this watch specifically towards people who love the great outdoors.

ace_topleft_blue_time_big_1825“The Polar M400 is for people who lead an active life and spend a lot of time training outdoors,” Polar say. “It is the perfect companion for urban and trail runners alike who are inspired by challenges and want to push their limits.”

That’s all very well and good, but what does it actually do?

Its in-built GPS can track runs, while being fully water resistant will allow it to combat all British weather. Equally, its high-contrast, high-resolution display makes it easier to depict in all lights.

Polar boast it has an eight-hour battery of training time with the use of GPS, while in just standard time mode it can last up to 24 days. And this is where they aim to set themselves apart one step further. When you’re not running, the watch will track daily activity, calories, steps and sleep, as well as letting you know when you’ve been inactive for too long.

ace_white_view_1_benefit_engIt’s designed to be worn 24/7 with everything linking back to the Polar App, giving you the chance to further analyse your runs and daily goals.

So how much is it? £124.50, or £157.50 with a heart rate sensor.

It’s received a pretty good reception so far, too, with some runners claiming it’s a better buy than Garmin. Others have suggested the GPS is quick to find too.

We’re looking forward to getting our hands on one soon to test it out for ourselves, but if you can’t wait, visit Polar for more.
