19-year-old Joe Clarkson will next month have the opportunity to run and raise money for a cause close to his heart at the Grand 10K Run at Aintree Racecourse.
When Joe was only 12 he sadly lost his father to Motor Neurone Disease. His father, Dave, was only 46 and passed within a month of being diagnosed.
Now, with the support of girlfriend Elly, and three friends, Joe will be running the race in memory of his late father and aiming to raise as much money as he can for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
“My dad was a dedicated runner who took part in many 10k runs and half marathons in and around my hometown of Liverpool,” says Joe. “I have chosen to run this race because it’s local to me and I grew up watching my father run in many local races’’.
The Grand 10k Run has been organised by Sports Tours International and follows a route within the ground of Aintree, home to the famous Grand National. Giving you the unique opportunity of being down on the famous ground.
Graham Jackson, Race Director at Sports Tours International said: “Our races welcome many people running for a charity that is important to them. We would like to wish Joe the best of luck in raising money for this great cause.”
