In this current age of technology, adidas can safely say they’re at the forefront with their latest innovation.
Introducing Futurecraft 3D, what adidas have dubbed “the future of performance footwear”. This technology allows the midsole to be solely tailored (excuse the pun) to the runner’s foot. Picking up on every detail.
adidas says it will bring the “ultimate personalised experience for all athletes”. The dream they invisage is one of you, the customer, entering an adidas store, running on a treadmill and instantly getting a 3D-printed running shoe.
The “flexible, fully breathable carbon copy” would match “exact contours and pressure points” giving the runner “the best running experience”.
Eric Liedtke, Executive Board Member of adidas AG, responsible for Global Brands, said: “Futurecraft 3D is a prototype and a statement of intent. We have used a one-of-its-kind combination of process and material in an entirely new way. Our 3D-printed midsole not only allows us to make a great running shoe, but also to use performance data to drive truly bespoke experiences, meeting the needs of any athlete”.
