Mo Farah won the Great North Run on Sunday for the second year running, setting fastest half-marathon time ever recorded by a British athlete.
Farah’s impressive season has come to an end in the best possible way, as he pipped Kenya’s Stanley Biwott in a thrilling finish t0 win the Great North Run in a time of 59mins 22secs.
The pair were neck-and-neck with 400m to go, but Farah showed his class, pulling away with 200m to go.
Speaking to the BBC, he said: “The crowd were amazing. If it wasn’t for them edging me towards the end, it definitely would have been a different result. I want to come back [next year’ and see if I can do a hat-trick.”
