Usain Bolt has stated that he’s ‘confident’ ahead of the London Anniversary Games this weekend, despite facing an unbeaten Justin Gaitlin and having not run a 100m race in six weeks.
Blighted by a pelvic injury, the world’s fastest man has only managed a below-par 10.12 seconds this year, which was set back in April. Gatlin meanwhile has four clocked times under 9.8 and is unbeaten in 23 races.
Speaking ahead of the games, he said: “If my coach (Glen Mills) isn’t worried, I’m never worried, he’s confident that I can be ready.
“I’m confident, I’ve been doing good in training. I’m not worried about times.”
This weekend’s race will give each runner the chance to gain a crucial psychological edge over the other one, as the pair head into next month’s World Championships in Beijing.
