Jonnie

So, Jonnie Peacock, what does running mean to you?

For me it’s my number one passion.

What is your guilty pleasure?

A cheese burger.

What was your best ever run?

A recent training run. I’d been struggling with injury but suddenly everything just clicked. Those are the runs you live for.

What is the most important lesson that running has taught you?

To have patience.

Who, if anyone, is your running hero?

As a sprinter, I’d have to say Usain Bolt.

If you could enter one race before you die, what would it be?

I’d love to have a go at a Diamond League event in Zurich – they’re great events and it’s a fast track.

What’s people’s greatest misconception about running?

That it’s all about training harder. You need to train smarter if you’re going to get better results.

What medal are you most proud of?

100m gold in London, closely followed by World Championship gold.

Would you ever run a marathon?

I’d like to say yes but, in all honesty, I have serious respect for anyone who can run for more than 30 minutes in one go. I just get bored!

Music or the sound of silence?

I’m a bit music fan and have a few tracks that get me pumped up before a race. Eminem’s Lose Yourself is a favourite.

We hear you once met Becks back in 2000. What was that like?

Incredible. He was my idol and he gave me one of his training tops. Meeting him stayed with me forever – it gave me such confidence.

Tell us one surprising thing about you

I’m partial to the occasional chick flick.

Describe yourself as a runner in one word?

Lucky.
