GRIM is one of the largest and definitely one of the most fun off-road adventure races in the UK. It continues to get bigger and better, even after 12 years, with many competitors returning year after year for more GRIM fun.

The course for 2014 is just over eight miles long. It changes often, but is always held across the Army’s vehicle testing track in Aldershot. You will compete over mixed terrain – trails, rocky paths, sand dunes, mud, hills, through some rather large puddles and a bog – so expect to get very wet and muddy!

This event is so popular it’s held over two days, but always over the first weekend in December. This year that’s the 6 and 7 December. You can enter as an individual or by rounding up some other nutters and creating a team. Many competitors enter into the GRIM spirit and come dressed to compete in some outrageous costumes (as if it’s not hard enough), but you don’t need to dress up or be super fit to enter GRIM. Just arrive up for a challenge!

This event is a lot of fun and a great introduction to adventure racing. The punk rock plays and although there might be some more extreme events out there, event organisers bet you’ll have more fun at GRIM!
