Below is our list of five fantastic runs that you need to try this year:
The Color Run
If you haven’t participated in one of these yet, you’re really missing out.
Taking place throughout the summer, the Color Run will have you covered in dry paint from head to toe whilst running 5K.
Each kilometre reveals a new colour, with you ending as what can only be described as a walking rainbow.
If that isn’t enough, after you’ve finished there will be live music as well as plenty of ice cream vans to cool your tongues.
The event takes place in a variety of locations including: London, Manchester, Sunderland, Birmingham, Belfast and Brighton.
This really is the definition of fun, you won’t even know you’ve run 5K by the end.
The Electric Run
Taking place all over the world, the Electric Run is a 5K like no other.
As you would expect it is full bright neon lights and takes place at night.
Each event will feature five to seven lands boasting glowing trees, tunnels with dancing platforms, lakes and rivers glowing hues and coloured fountains changing to the beat of the music, as well as much more.
Much like the Color Run when you finish there will be a main stage with Dj’s giving you a party to remember.
The even takes place in London, Cardiff, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The Zombie Evacuation Race
Ever wanted to experience a zombie apocalypse? Now’s your chance.
Designed by specialist zombie lovers, this 5K contains both a mixture of the un-dead and several obstacles.
The obstacles remain secret until the day and so the only thing you need to practice is your dodging and running.
Dubbed with the line ‘Only the fittest survive’, you can enter as either a victim or a zombie – the choice is yours.
There are two events, and yes you’ve guessed it, they take place around Halloween.
One is in Cambridge, while the other is in London.
The Sumo Run
This is a 5K race containing more than 100 people running in battery operated inflatable sumo wrestling outfits.
Sounds fun, doesn’t it?
Taking place in Battersea Park, London, the event previously set a world record for the largest gathering of people running in sumo suits.
If the entry seems a little pricey, don’t worry, it does include the sumo suit!
The Swimmer
Slightly different to all the rest, The Swimmer is a 13 mile run dipped with four cold swims!
You can either go from South to North, known as The Swimmer Classic, or West to East, known as the Olympic Odyssey.
It’s less of a race and more of a fun run. When you stop off to have a swim, it’s not to go anywhere, it’s just to have a bit of a splash around. Once you’re done, off you go to the next one.
It may be in only one location, but there are plenty of events to enter!
