Ottawa isn’t just Canada’s beautiful capital city. It’s also home to the country’s biggest, fastest, most awesome marathon – the Scotiabank Ottawa Marathon.
Started in 1975, this IAAF Silver Label race is part of a weekend-long running celebration that features six events and attracts 50,000 runners from across Canada and around the world.
Those runners include the world’s top athletes, who travel to Ottawa for the event’s world-class organisation, amazing atmosphere and fast times. Runners such as Ethiopia’s Yemane Tsegay, who set a new men’s course record of 2:06:54 at this year’s race (the fastest marathon time ever recorded in Canada!).
Stunning scenery, clockwork organisation, incredible spectators, fast courses and the atmosphere of Canada’s capital: it all adds up to make the Scotiabank Ottawa Marathon one awesome running destination.
