When a race sells out every year it must be doing something right.
And with a scenic course, magnificent support and fantastic atmosphere it’s easy to see why the Yorkshire Marathon is so popular.
Launched in 2013, this autumn marathon is now a major highlight on the UK’s running calendar and perfectly timed to put all that summer training to good use.
Back on Sunday 14 October 2018, thousands of runners are set to make tracks to the beautiful and historic city of York for the Asda Foundation Yorkshire Marathon.
Described by The Guardian as “a course on which to smash your PB,” the largely flat route starts and finishes at the University of York. It takes the field through the city’s medieval heart and past the splendid York Minster before heading out along picturesque country lanes, through attractive villages and then back to the University for a truly-electric finale.
All finishers receive a well-earned goody bag, top quality technical t-shirt and a great medal, which can be engraved for free for a fantastic souvenir of your achievement.
The marathon is staged under the umbrella of Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, the group behind the popular Asda Foundation 10K Series, the Leeds Half Marathon and the Sheffield Half Marathon.
These events, along with the marathon, stand as part of the lasting legacy of the late fundraiser and campaigner Jane Tomlinson who raised almost £2m for charity by tackling a series of epic challenges, including cycling over 4,000 miles across America, despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer.
