About: Sport Relief is back for 2016 with the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games. The fundraising event encourages the Great British public to take part in a variety of flagship and local races, taking place across the country. The money raised by the public is spent by Comic Relief to help people living incredibly tough lives across the UK and in the world’s poorest communities. Toddler Dash and Family Mile added to the Great Edinburgh Run
What: 10-mile Great Edinburgh Run, Family Mile and 100m Toddler Dash
When: 17 April
Where: Holyrood Park, Edinburgh (10-minute walk from Edinburgh Waverly train station)
How much: Great Edinburgh Run: £28, Family Mile: £9, Toddler Dash: £4

City to Sea Marathon returns for a second year
What: 55-mile ultra, marathon and relay
When: 3 September
Where: Quay Climbing Centre, Haven Road, Exeter (transport from Babbacombe Bay at 6.30am)
How much: Ultra solo: £70, Marathon solo: £40, Ultra Relay: £100, Marathon Relay: £70
About: Relay teams can comprise up to three members for the marathon or a maximum of four for the ultramarathon. Indoor checkpoints will provide food and drink, and there will be a Festival of Fun at the finish line, including children’s games, inflatables, stalls, food, bar and live music marquee. About: Now in its 27th year, the fast and flat course takes in the historic sights of Southsea and Portsmouth and finishes on the stunning seafront.
