Get ready to lace up those trainers – the Ikano Robin Hood Marathon, Half Marathon and Mini Marathon returns to the City of Nottingham on Sunday 28 September 2014. Don’t delay – sign up now and join Robin Hood and his merry men at this iconic event!
More than 10,000 runners are expected to take on the half marathon, which will weave through the city centre, university grounds and along the River Trent, while more than 2,000 runners are predicted to line up for the full marathon.
Nick Pearson from Sweatshop, organisers of the event, says: ‘Our thanks goes to headline sponsor Ikano and Nottingham City Council, whose support facilitates this iconic event year on year.
‘In 2013, runners in their thousands, young and old, took to their first competitive event and many seasoned athletes achieved personal best race times. One of the many highlights of the day though is the race village – bustling with activity, it really is incredible to see so many families supporting their loved ones across the finish line. It’s a day not to be missed!’
Dan Joy, UK Country Manager of Ikano Bank, says: ‘Witnessing thousands of people run their hearts out, year on year, to achieve their race or fundraising goals is an absolute inspiration and we are proud to be a part of this community event. We look forward to getting into the spirit of all things Robin Hood in September – see you at the start line!’
In 2013, more than 500 runners donned medieval fancy dress to honour the home of Robin Hood, a heroic outlaw in English folklore. This September, race organisers hope to set a new record, with the help of Robin Hood, his Merry Men and Maid Marians. Be sure to be a part of this record-breaking attempt!
Sweatshop confirms that the half marathon course is ideal for beginners as well as faster runners looking for a personal best.
