When?

9 August 2015

Where?

Held in Sydney, Australia, the 14K route takes you through the city’s beautiful streets and tunnels but also includes a tough incline up the interestingly named “Heartbreak Hill”. With the course ending at the famous and spectacular Bondi Beach, the race organisers save the best till last.

Why?

With over 80,000 people entering the race in 2010, it is now the largest run of its kind in the world. The race is also a fundraising event for the Australia Cancer Foundation.

How much?

Considering this is Australia and the distance you would have to travel, two weeks is probably the minimum amount of time you would want to spend there. With that in mind, a full two-week package will be in the region of £2000 for a hotel, flights and race entry ($75 for early birds).

How tough?

Very flat and very sea-breezy once over Heartbreak Hill.

What’s the record?

40 minutes, 3 seconds: Steve Moneghetti 1991
