Swiss City Marathon: Lauf durch viel Regen und wenig Sonne

If you fancy running a marathon abroad this autumn, the Swiss City Marathon, held on 26 October 2014, is a great choice. This relatively flat 26.2-miler (there are just a few undulations a third of the way along the route), held in and around the beautiful Swiss city of Lucerne, is a great one for PB chasers and first-time marathon runners alike. The two-lap course takes you on a scenic journey, with a section along the waterfront. Half-marathon and five-mile options are also offered, so there’s something for everyone.

Last year’s female winner, Martina Strähl, who crossed the finish line in 2:39:14, had this to say about the race:

‘Emotionally, crossing the finish line was a huge deal for me. I received thunderous applause from the crowds and I almost wept with joy. The whole experience of the Swiss City Marathon was just indescribably beautiful.’
