“Flat, fast & festive!” The Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon is the grand finale and signature event of the Canada Running Series, attracting over 25,000 runners each year. In addition to holding a prestigious IAAF Gold Label, it also serves as host of the Canadian National Marathon Championships.
The course is very scenic, starting and finishing in the heart of the city, while heading out and back along the lakeshore for some fantastic waterfront running. The flat and fast features of this event have consistently been the reason for so many people achieving a personal best, qualifying for Boston and having a memorable, outstanding race.
There are bands and Neighbourhood Entertainment Centres every 2 kilometres, cheerleaders, and numerous aid stations. Overall, there’s a great, festive atmosphere. All participants receive an exciting finisher’s medal featuring a different Toronto landmark each year.
Toronto Waterfront, however, is much more than just a run… It’s a full weekend celebration that starts with special guest speakers at the free 2-day Running Expo, Friday and Saturday. On Saturday morning there’s a free, short International Friendship Run, and a post-race victory party in Nathan Phillips Square on Sunday. Join us on October 16th, 2016 for an unforgettable Toronto experience!
