What?

With four different courses, this is a completely unique event that allows you to compete against runners of all abilities – and a train! Course 1 (the Rotary Challenge) is the main event; this involves a 14-mile run in which a train and competitors start at the same time. 1 hr 47 mins is roughly the time needed to win the race. Race the Train is now in its 32nd year and has attracted people from all over the world.

When?

Saturday 15 August, 2015

Where?

The race will be held in the picturesque Welsh valleys of Tywyn that is great for scenery lovers but terrible for incline haters.

Why?

The race was set up predominantly with Action for Children in mind. The charity is committed to helping the most vulnerable and neglected children or young people get the support needed to fulfil their potential.

How much?

Varies with much course you decide to take on, your age and whether you are an affiliated runner or not. For a one unaffiliated runner to enter the Rotary Challenge it is £28. Add that to the bridge toll, petrol money and a train ticket for a spectator the total cost would be around £100 for the day.

How tough?

As mentioned before, the time you need to aim for in order to beat the train is 1hr 47 mins. Add that to the muddy tracks and steeps inclines, 14 miles won’t be easy

What’s the record?

Men’s record: 1 hr 18 mins 15 secs. Women’s record: 1 hr 34 mins 20 secs.

How do I enter?
