03 Neon Run – Leeds

18 October

If you like colour, bright lights and music, this is the event for you. The 5K route takes runnersthrough four neon zones – playing rock, pop, disco and iconic British music. You will also run past dancers, strobe lights and all of the extras you’d expect to see at a club or party – bar the alcohol, that is. There’s an
after-party, too.

04 Grim Blackout –Aldershot

Battle through dense woods, icy water and thick bogs with only your headtorch for company. Venture round two laps of its
3.5-mile loop and enjoy everything the course has to throw at you. It’s a fun one, honest.

05 Dusk ’til Dawn Ultra – Derbyshire

25 October

This 50-mile course weaves through the Peak District and has its runners accumulate over 9,000ft of ascent. It’s unforgiving and testing, and you only have 14 hours and 3 minutes in which to complete it. The route follows parts of the Limestone Way, and takes in the Mam Tor and Shining Tor. But be careful, if you’re not quick enough the chasing Grim Sweeper will bring an early end to your race.

06 The Night Runner – Bolton

25 October

This 10k trail run peaks at the landmark of Rivington Pike. On its ways, it weaves through woodlands, parklands and fellside. Underfoot you’ll find it rough and rocky, while the inclines will test even the hardiest of mountain goats. A great run with a challenging route, this is certainly worth giving a go.

07  Night Fright – Guildford

Great for serious runners and first-timers alike, this off-road race through the Surrey Hills woodland takes in the undulating terrain of the Chantry woods. At 8.5K in length, its cross-country route is an enjoyable and rewarding one. The Halloween-themed race is packed with surprsises and offers you the chance to dust off your fancy dress outfit.

08 The Hope Northern Skeleton run – Keswick

1 November

Fancy another Halloween race? Sure you do. This one gives you another chance to run through a spooky wood in the dead of night. The trail run is five miles in length and has a downhill sprint to the finish. Taking place within the boundaries of Whinlatter Forest, the surroundings are home to a host of wildlife and offer fantastic views. Make no bones about it, the Skeleton Run is one fantastic race.

09 Night Rush
Extreme Run – Essex

This punishing 10K is perfect for those looking for a challenge. Every bit as extreme as its title suggests, the Night Rush Extreme Runs takes you off-road over undulating terrain, motorcross tracks and farm fields on your way to the finish line. The course is also scattered with a number of intimidating obstacles that will have you pushing yourself to the limit. Come and have a go if you think your hard enough.

10 London Night 5k

This 5K, part of the Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest series, is a quick but brutal event. It’s a stripped down version of their daytime 10K event, but still includes 90 per cent of
its obstacles. Described by many as a sprint race, this tough run is a frenetic affair.
Under the lights, the route takes you through the urban jungle, offering a number of unique challenges. Will you thrive under the spotlight?
