We all know by now the benefits of protein and how it helps encourage and sustain muscle growth and development. How it also helps with rebuilding, and, making us a faster, better and stronger runner.

So, what Wheyhey have done is put this into an ice cream! Bizarre, I know, but the influx of protein into our society over the last decade has been nothing short of remarkable. So why not capitalise on it?

Packed full of protein, the tubs come in four flavours. Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and banoffee.

I piped for the vanilla, a safe choice for sure.IMG_8858

Upon opening the tub the first thing you notice is the consistency. It doesn’t look like ice cream, you can scoop up a spoonful, turn it upside down and it won’t move. It doesn’t feel quite like ice cream, more like a very cold paste.

In terms of taste, the only thing I can compare it to is the ice cream you get at the half-time intervals at the pantomime, but with a slightly edgy taste to it.

It’s also – and this may read weird given that this is ice cream we’re writing about – but it’s also quite dry. I found myself sipping water regularly between each mouthful.

Despite the negatives it works well as a good mid-afternoon snack, and it will do even more so with the up and coming summer months. It is refreshing and it certainly is different, but due to the thick like consistency you may struggle to get through a tub.
