Beetroot juice
With the uproar of studies and hype around beetroot juice, some are going as far as calling it a superfood.
Here’s why: it contains potassium, magnesium, iron, vitamins A, B6 and C, folic acid, carbohydrates, protein, antioxidants and soluble fibre.
With all that it includes, beetroot juice has been known to relieve skin problems, and improve liver and brain health.
Be warned, it’s very sweet and very powerful, you only need a small dosage everyday, and it has been known to turn people’s pee red!
The taste can also be quite sweet and sickly, but if you can handle that, then the health properties are nothing short of remarkable.
Coconut water
This one is definitely better in taste and also has amazing health benefits.
Many athletes have sworn by it. Stating that coconut water has incredible hydration properties, perfect for endurance sports.
To make this even better, a new study has revealed that coconut water actually improves your cardiovascular system. Is this not the perfect drink for running?
Packed with bioactive enzymes, coconut water is great at aiding digestive and speeding up metabolism.
As well as this, it can give you great skin and has even been know to cure hangovers. We are dubious over the last point however.
Cactus Juice / Water
This one you may not have heard of.
Full of anti-aging oxidants, cactus water is both low in sugar and calories.
If you think about the a cactus, it sits in extraordinary heat and doesn’t wilt. That’s because it’s great at holding water and hydrating itself, drinking the stuff will help lock in the skins moisture, keeping you hydrated for longer.
As well as all the above, it provides you with beta-carotene, vitamin B, vitamin C, iron, magnesium, calcium and numerous other minerals and vitamins
The American Heart Association has also conducted studies proving that cactus water can indeed help lower cholesterol.

Green Tea
For a long time Green Tea has been known to improve general health with its powerful antioxidents.
It can kill bacteria, improve dental and brain health, and much much more.
What you perhaps didn’t know, is that it can increase fat burning and physical health.
This has actually been tested in human controlled trials. Energy expenditure among men increased by 4% and fat oxidation increased by a whopping 17%!
Another bonus for us runners is that it can also decrease cardiovascular disease.
