As a full-time ultrarunner and coach, the Western States 100 (WS100) has been a target of mine for a long time. WS100 is the world’s oldest and most prestigious 100-mile trail race and the perfect event to go head-to–head with the very best ultrarunners in the world.

I’ve settled in the small town of Truckee, near to the start of the race in Squaw. The snow hasn’t yet melted higher up on the mountains so it’s given me a good excuse to run some of the other great trails in Tahoe.

This video covers a small section of the 165-mile hiking trail that forms a loop around the Lake Tahoe Basin in the Sierra Nevada and Carson ranges of California and Nevada.

Join me as I meet the locals, discover new and unmarked trails, run some mountains, rest, recover and train again.
