As a full-time ultrarunner and coach, the Western States 100 Endurance Run has been a target of mine for a long time. WS100 is the world’s oldest and most prestigious 100-mile trail race and the perfect event to go head-to-head with the very best ultrarunners in the world.

The race starts in the ski-famous Squaw Valley area in California, near the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics and finishes 100.2 miles later in Auburn. In the decades since its inception in 1974, the race has come to represent one of the ultimate endurance tests in the world.

This is my focus race for the year and a huge amount of effort and sacrifice has already gone into getting to the race in top shape. I’m travelling to California 4 – 5 weeks out from the event to do my final training on the course and around the Tahoe area, and I’ve been very lucky to be working with Topo (and Tony Post) since I arrived. Running is one of our most natural and instinctive movements and Topo develops shoes that give me the best possible experience on any surface, so that I can perform better in training and racing.

Join me as I meet the locals, discover unmarked trails, run some mountains, rest, recover and train again.

For more behind-the-scenes content on my final preparation for the big race you can serach for Pyllon on YouTube, Twitter, instagram and Snapchat.
