Recently, there seems to have been quite the upsurge of all things green when it comes to health drinks. This is in no small part down to the algae spirulina, possibly the healthiest form of natural food anyone can have. Giving it the title super food.

Not so long ago we tested out the BodyMe spirulina powder, if you read the review you’ll know that it was a really tough drink to get down your neck. Worse than any dirty pint, imagine drinking out of pond, with added scum.

What Lean Greens are promoting is all the health benefits of spirulina and more, without the wildlife taste.

So what’s in it?

BroccoliIMG_9745

Spinach

Carrots

Blueberries

Blackcurrants

6 digestive enzymes including spirulina

Siberian Ginseng & Green Tea

But what does that do?

Well according to Lean Greens, the alkalising ingredients in this super drink will give you more energy without your body being stressed. It allows for a natural increase in energy without jitters or a crash.

The digestive enzymes will improve both gut and bowel health, which has been known to reduce feelings of being bloated.

Finally the nutrients that you’re packing your body with will mean less cravings for sugary foods and caffeinated drinks; you should feel fuller for longer.

And what does it taste like?

Firstly, it doesn’t taste like pond, so thumbs on that one, and secondly, it has a better consistency than the spirulina powder, it’s smooth with no lumps.

However, you knew that was coming didn’t you? However, it does taste like you’ve gone into an overgrown field and chomped down on some grass. It’s still not entirely palatable, but it doesn’t make you gag like the tag line says.

After two days of drinking it, it still doesn’t get any easier and it’s still not something you look forward to drinking. It’s not a nice taste, it’s just a better taste and feel than the spirulina powder.

At least the green power drinks are making progress!

The health benefits are remarkable and if you can have one once a day, then fair play to you, you’re body will start to reap the rewards, it’s just whether you can overcome the taste?
