Grab your place in the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon

Thousands of runners will line up in York on 8 October 2017 for a race that since its 2013 launch has quickly established a reputation as a “must do” event.

With a largely flat, fast and scenic course taking in the historic heart of York, country lanes and attractive villages, the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon is a run that appeals to all, from the seasoned veteran to the marathon novice.

And if you want to take on this White Rose winner, it’s best to act quickly as it has sold out every year since its launch.

A key feature of the run is the fantastic atmosphere generated by charity cheer points, lively on-course entertainment and enthusiastic spectators providing that all-important encouragement when the going gets tough.

That super support is perhaps best illustrated by the Rev Canon Terry Joyce, whose hi-fiving of the participants as they pass through the village of Stockton-on-the-Forest has become one of the event’s many highlights! Add to the experience some fantastic race souvenirs and a packed goody bag, and you’ve got a day to really remember.

The marathon is staged under the umbrella of Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, the group behind the popular Asda Foundation 10K Series, the Plusnet Leeds Half Marathon and the Plusnet Yorkshire Half Marathon-Sheffield.

These events, along with the marathon, stand as part of the lasting legacy of the late fundraiser and campaigner Jane Tomlinson who raised almost £2m for charity by tackling a series of epic challenges, despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer.
